Where to start?!

So Memorial Day weekend 2013, a bunch of friends and I went down the Cape. It was a ton of fun, lots of drinking games and lots of laughs, overall a memorable time. During this weekend I met Kate; a friend of a friend who is super nice, funny and really into a healthy lifestyle. She does Crossfit and eats clean and you can definitely tell! She looks great!

Kate kept talking about the Paleo Diet and how it has helped her with some personal health and skin issues. She went on to tell us how it works, why it works and how eating clean foods will make you feel better in more ways then one.

Personally, I am at a constant battle with my weight. I'm up, I'm down and somewhere in between at all times. I've tried dieting, working out, Weight Watchers, staying off birth control, the whole bit and nothing seemed to stick. I am a 24-year-old woman that is extremely busy and loves to go out with friends, so dieting has been hard for me to keep up with.

For the past 6 months or so, I have been feeling sick after almost every meal. Terrible stomach pain, gas, and nausea were becoming way too familiar in my life. Many of my friends and family members told me to cut out dairy, others told me to cut out the gluten, I knew I needed to cut out something but was unsure of my will power to do so.

After this trip down the Cape and listening to how the Paleo Diet basically changed Kate's life, I thought I owed it to myself to give it a try. I wanted to take off some weight, but more importantly, I wanted to start feeling better.

I started Paleo on Monday, June 3, 2013. I wanted a place to track my recipes and my results, so here I am: My Adventures in Paleoism*!

Disclaimer: I have done a little research, but not much at all... this is definitely going to be a learning experience for me. I am by no means an expert, nor have I done enough research to know all there is to know about this lifestyle. Basically, don't quote me! :)

* Paleoism, in this case, means the diet and the life style. Not the understanding of a form of American Liberalism (read more about that, here!!).

That's me and my dog/love of my life, Jake! He is a sickling too, he has diabetes and recently lost about 90% of his vision. There will be plenty of stories including Jake on here, so I thought I should introduce him early on ;).
